Results: Tim 4 Suffolk PCC

Suffolk’s Police & Crime Commissioner, Tim Passmore, approached the agency to support him in raising awareness of his re-election campaign. When the news came in that he won, we were thrilled – and so was he.

Tim was keen to utilise digital channels in order to reach out to Suffolk communities in the places that they like to socialise in online. In addition, the turnout to PCC elections had historically been low and therefore, an objective of the activity was to educate the public on the PCC role and why it was so important to vote.

We created a social media plan packed with an assortment of activity – and this was put it into action across a variety of platforms. We achieved a daily growth of followers and user engagement throughout the campaign duration, resulting in hundreds of retweets, likes, shares, video views and click-throughs to the website. In fact, social media was the top referrer to Tim’s campaign website, accounting 85% of visits.

Tim was re-elected as Suffolk’s PCC with 68,000 votes compared to 41,000 votes for the second place candidate. 24% of people in Suffolk turned out to vote compared to just 16% four years ago.
