Glittering PR for pentahotel’s Red Carpet Party
We love an opportunity to get all glamourous. When we were asked to pitch to do PR and guest list development for a red-carpet party in Ipswich, we knew we had to deliver a dazzling campaign.
pentahotels is a trend-setting lifestyle hotel brand, rapidly growing across locations in Europe and Asia. The Ipswich hotel is one of the latest additions to the company’s UK portfolio and to celebrate its recent £3.5 million renovation, the global company held a ‘grand opening’ party.
We were asked to pitch to pentahotel’s leadership team to provide the event PR and to develop the VIP guest list. Collaborating with Affinity PR – a national media specialist in the hospitality industry – our combined ideas, business connections and media experience made a ‘dream team’ impact, with the result that we were hired to work on this exciting project, which saw a red-carpet celebrity event come to Ipswich.
Building the buzz
To create an air of anticipation among guests, we sent out personalised invitations and spread the word that members of pop band Blue would be playing live, and other celebrities would be coming along. Soon enough the party was the talk of the town – after all, this was no ordinary business event.
We introduced pentahotels to our regional, national and trade media contacts, highlighting unique aspects, such as its boutique interior design and investment in the local economy. We invited key contacts to the party, arranged interviews with the client, and created a range of materials for digital and print party press packs.
The grand opening party
We kicked off activity with a press reception, where journalists interviewed pentahotels’ Global MD Alastair Thomann and had personal tours of the hotel.
Our professional photographer captured the party’s action, and paparazzi snapped celebrities on the red carpet before syndicating the images to the press.
We arranged for Town102 FM’s Nick Pandolfi to broadcast his Drive Time show live from the event, interviewing Simon Webbe of Blue, the pentahotels team and party guests. He also promoted the event with trailers.
We set up competitions to give away VIP tickets on pentahotels’ Facebook page, with Town102 and The Ipswich Star.
On the night, we managed the client’s Twitter and Facebook accounts, posting glamourous party photos until the early hours.
Our contribution to the guest list was a great success, with local sporting celebrities, business leaders and ‘movers and shakers’ coming along to enjoy a fantastic evening.
The media response exceeded expectation, with the press running a range of positive news stories, reviews, interviews and vibrant images. Some articles focused on the company’s multi-million-pound investment into ‘up-and-coming’ Ipswich, whilst others covered lifestyle and celebrity angles.
